Archiving

DO Archive service is designed as an electronic alternative for physical document warehouses with the many benefits electronic access brings over physical storage. Design is based on a ‘service’ rather than an application as a centralised operation of investment in equipment, software and expertise.

DO Archive offers totally reliability 24 x 365 and document access and storage availability Through its investment in hardware and software infrastructure in:

  • Internet Connections - Dual ISP service
  • Internet Connectivity Hardware - Dual Internet Communication Devices
  • Firewall Protection - Fail-over Checkpoint 1 Firewall Configuration
  • Servers- Fail-over Sun Enterprise Servers
  • Storage - RAID Sun Storage arrays provide higher data security through the use of redundancy. RAID sets in use can continue even if one of the member disks fails. This level of fault tolerance is one of the features behind the high availability of the service and the RAID level used is matched to requirements of the storage and retrieval patterns of the data to gain maximum performance for the system.
  • Stress and scalability testing by specialist external Consultants
DO is a shared service that allows these costs to be efficiently distributed amongst its customers. These savings allow us to exceed reliability standards set for any single business.

Performance and Scalability

SLA’s are in place with our telecommunications providers that enable rapid increases in our available bandwidth to the Internet should the existing provision thresholds be exceeded and the investment in extendable hardware also gives an edge both on speed to scale-up and longevity of hardware investments. Expansibility is a feature of storage size and this means that the service does not have to carry unnecessarily large contingencies of expensive bandwidth as is traditional with leased line services.

Security

Security is the number one priority of any service provider whether it is physical or electronic document storage or any other service where sensitive data is involved. A major benefit of the system is the ability for the appropriate person to obtain the appropriate document at the appropriate time, though employing Internet connectivity options designed in such a manner to eliminate the threat posed by Internet connectivity.

Some defence mechanisms are:

  • 1SSL secured ports using 128-bit data encryption router port lockdown
  • 1SSL Definition 128 key encryption
  • Firewalls are configured to only allow predefined communications to the system
  • Intruder Detection Systems detect any unauthorised or unexpected behaviour.
  • User logons do not have direct access to system data
  • Customer data is partitioned to retract access only by that Customer using VPD
  • International security consultants attempt periodic penetration tests
  • Specially hardened operating system on Web servers
